Design 2: Inhabit 2: Bamboo prims
I started off using individual prims on Second Life to make the bamboo forest. I didn't think it would use up that much for my prim count but it added up to around 30 prims.
So Pruek recommended that I use Photoshop to make an alpha channel texture.
It only used up 5 prims but it looks fuller than the one before. The only problem is it looks flat on the side.

Design 2: Inhabit 2: Projection
From our discussion, we decided to try out the idea of the projection of light from the laser, inspired by my last Inhabit project. It could be a light tunnel guiding people through my design. As they get closer to the fine point, their instinct will tell them that it's impossible to go through. But the cone is a "phantom" so they are able to go through it.
Before the cone changed its material and became more transparent with glow, the default wood texture made the green poles appear to look like bamboos, which could tie in with the landscaping idea.
Design 2: Inhabit 2: Discussion
Education
It is beneficial to take risk.
Curiosity triggers the passion to learn.
"It's about the journey, not the destination", the process is more important that the result
Our (min and i) design links others' designs.
Take risks and it'll benefit you in the future.
Lack of engagement
storyline/narrative - tells a story so people would want to stay or go all the way through to the end, head to the next step (movement of ants, people, birds, etc)
Need/desire (curiosity) - want to make a mark
simena - simulation, public to public, multi-user
analogue (working outside, our artificial park) VS digital (screen, technology)
heat from lasers burn hole through facade, holes contain screen displaying educational questions, etc circulating, people will be curious to see what came before or is coming after.
lasers projection, screen
reading or the story directs people along our design

Design 2: Inhabit 2: Original design
I started off by attempting to recreate my design from my last Inhabit project. Light tubes and lasers, with the lasers being "phantoms" so people are able to walk through it. I started developing it by creating an invisible wall (black box in image) blocking the big entrance (shaded in red in image), as that is the obvious path to go through. It will be ironic how people are able to walk through the "door frame" but not the actual "door". This hopefully generates a space of creativity to allow people to be more creative and try different things when passing through my design.
My design is flexible to be located anywhere so I just temporarily built it beside the study area on Level 1.
My philosophy is to allow people to be more creative by generating opportunities for them to experience something different.
I am collaborating with Hyun Min Kim (Caffeinny Cheri). Started adding rods around her green panels. Made the rods green as well to show our collaboration. Experimented with the same idea of being unable to go through the open area by placing an invisible in front of it. Left the rods glowing, hoping that others will notice it and attempt to go through it.

Design 2: Inhabit 2: Research
One of my major ideas from my last Inhabit project is illusion. First thought of having something along the lines of a door or walkway but people are unable to walk through it. The idea of illusion is a very broad topic so I decided to do some research, possibly narrowing it down.
As I was researching, this illusion example was really intriguing. It is so obvious that square A and square B are in a shade of grey but both colours are indeed the same. It is very interesting how powerful the concept of illusion can be.

Second Life: Final Design
Sun rise changes colour of the floor. Walls and door remain glowing.
Photo of an image used to inspire my office design, hung on the wall.
Sun set may be enjoyed when sitting on the chair as it faces the West. Door on the far right opens and closes when touched, using the script provided from Second Life Wiki.
Texture used on chair, office table and bench was from one of the photographs found in the Arquitectura Y Urbanismo journal researched before. It enhances the idea of movement with its repetition of parallel vertical lines. Laptop on office table shows the front page of my Second Life blog. The website will be revealed when the avatar touches the laptop.
Walls extend into the mountain, obtaining support from it. My office design stands out in the dark.
