First project of Semester 2, Week 2 to Week 3. I was in the modelling / laser cutting group.

ReplyDelete- interesting use of conjunction of pattern to incur new ideas
- an improvement could be trialing different shapes (I think the triangular shape was a lot more interesting too)
- subjective opinion - maybe you could've made the cubes go up and down to create more freedom in joining to create your idea or pattern
The concept of idea mixing and integration is successfully portrayed through the moving elements of this project. The triangular shape in the development showed a lot of potential to be developed into something quite interesting. Project showed knowledge of the laser cutting process, but could have also included a little more experimentation with different cut out shapes on the wheel on top, to allow more movement or variation (perhaps not just straight lines? curved? ones that pulled higher/lower?). It was interesting to see how compact the hanging boxes could become, introducing a concept of storage and innovative use of space within a compact studio. Also, I personally quite enjoyed how the project had a very interactive component, which is important in this 'design junk' brief.
ReplyDeleteI found your project very interesting. I liked your notion of manipulating ideas and the strong interactive element your project consisted of. I really liked your triangular mockup, and thought that it had a lot of potential in the way that the old ideas could be manipulated and changed in so many different ways. The grouping of ideas would have been an interesting notion to explore with your project, also the idea of movement in multiple directions. Overall I feel your project was very well thought out, and your models were all very well made ( I liked that you didn't just stick to one material for your final model).
